MedLabs Diagnostics Chooses Ignis Systems for Orders and Results Outreach to Physicians

Most of MLD’s sites use Ignis’ flagship product, EMR-Link, which provides workflow integration with various EMR (electronic medical records) systems; while others are implementing OrdersAnywhere, which provides web-based lab orders and results without requiring an EMR.
Terry Gunning, MedLabs COO and Senior Vice President, says MedLabs initially brought Ignis in to help with a complex EMR interface project. That project’s ease of deployment encouraged them to move to EMR-Link for many of their clinic customers who use EMRs. “That first project went as smoothly as any interface we’ve ever done. And now it’s even more predictable—it’s getting to be like clockwork. Being able to offer our customers a choice by interfacing with any EMR system in a matter of weeks, not months is a real competitive advantage for us.”
Teesha Burns, IT Specialist for MedLabs, who trained the MedLabs phlebotomists who use EMR-Link to enter orders in the clinics, says they’re seeing workflow efficiencies with the new system. “It’s definitely easier—there’s much less handwriting. Now they don’t have to do data entry. That means less time they have to spend on paperwork, and more time to care for patients. Plus it’s been really easy to roll out—training the staff has been fast and efficient.”
